Release of IRS Notice 2003-102
How it works:
All expenses for over-the-counter medications are available for the plan year 2003 and beyond, IF you saved your receipts. The receipt should show the name of the medication.
The medication should be for your medical needs and those in your family NOT for your general health.
For example, aspirin, ibuprofen, AllerestTM Vicks Vapo RubTM and a host of other items are for medical needs, but vitamins (unless for a specific condition) are not included.
Questions and Answers
Question: What if my doctor or chiropractor says I need supplements, how do I make a claim?
Answer: Ask the doctor to describe the medical condition h/she is treating you for and the length of time the treatment is going to last. Submit the letter with the receipt.
