General Info

What to do when we ask for a receipt

The IRS sets guidelines for what is and isn't an eligible flex expense. To protect our clients and participants, there will be times when we will require a receipt for claim substantiation to comply with the guidelines even for debit card purchases. A receipt should include the date of service, the amount, and the nature of the service. A credit card receipt will not meet IRS substantiation requirements. Therefore, we advise all card users to keep their receipts just in case we ask for them to comply with the IRS.

Submit Your Receipt

To get your receipt to us, use this and fax it to us with your receipt to our toll-free fax number: 1-877-231-1287. You can also scan and email it to us at customercare@eflexgroup.com, or mail it to us at: eflexgroup.com, 2740 Ski Lane, Madison, WI 53713.

Find your Receipt

If we do need a receipt for a debit card claim we will send out 3 notices. If we don't receive it after 30 days, we'll have to temporarily deactivate the card until we receive substantiation. We realize this is an inconvenience for some card users. Here are some great tips that can help you locate your receipts.

Make sure eflexgroup has your current email address. If we do need a receipt for a debit card purchase, we will send you an email the day we receive your claim or the debit purchase is made. Email is the fastest way to be notified and will give you the most time if you need to track down a receipt.

Prescription receipts are often available at your pharmacy. Major retailers like Walgreens and CVS even have an online database you can use. Check out these links for more info.

Your insurance company will have record of any FSA claim you made toward a deductible or co-pay. This tip makes searching for health, dental, or vision receipts a snap.

Many major retail outlets are now required to code their registers to identify and approve flex-eligible items at the point of purchase. In most cases, we will no longer ask for receipts for over the counter flex purchases as long as you shop at an approved location. Here is the current IIAS list of participating stores.

You will receive three notices for substantiation before your card may be deactivated. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call our Customer Center toll free at 1-877-933-3539.
