Exec-U-Care

Exec-U-Care supplements your basic health plan by reimbursing your insured employees for many of the expenses not covered under your basic plan up to as much as $100,000 per year.

Before the passage of Internal Revenue Code Section 105 (h) a corporation was allowed to directly reimburse executives, on a self-insured basis, for out of pocket medical and dental expenses, and the corporation could do it on a discriminatory basis. The corporation could deduct the expenses and the executive received the money tax-free.

With the passage of Section 105(h), corporations could no longer provide this perk on a discriminatory basis, "unless it was part of an insured program." In other words, the corporation couldn't just pay executives directly, but it could provide this executive perk on a discriminatory basis - if the benefits are provided through an insured program.

So, Exec-U-Care was developed. It's an insured product that lets you give this special benefit to you and your top executives, only those employees to whom you want to give an extra perk. The corporation takes a tax deduction, and employees get the benefits tax-free in most instances.
